I looked up the words "labile" and "recalcitrant."
Labile- Easily changing, unstable, readily changes.
Recalcitrant- Difficult to degrade under natural conditions and usually not responsive to treatment

Here's what I got:
Labile: Constantly undergoing or likely to undergo change; unstable
Recalcitrant>: Marked by stubborn resistance to and defiance of authority or guidance.
The definition of recalcitrant probably refers to a general sense, and not the scientific sense, but i figured I'd put it up anyway.
